The location is fantastic, just two blocks from the waterfront and close to the Colonial Zone. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the communal areas, filled with plants, create a relaxing environment after a day of trekking. Our room was air-conditioned and offered a comfortable bed for a great night's sleep.

The cleanliness of the shared kitchen could use improvement, particularly regarding the fridge and cupboard handles.

The noise levels were off the charts, thanks to a loud pump in the garden and an electric box right behind the walls. Mosquitoes had a ball since the room lacked a mosquito net, and I stumbled upon a couple of cockroaches during my stay. Bathroom space was cramped, with a sink barely bigger than my palm, making movement quite the challenge. Plus, the kitchen cleanliness was subpar, featuring dusty cupboard handles and a grimy fridge.

the bathroom took a while for hot water to come, but the staff is super friendly and helpful! love the location, it's easy to walk around and check stuff out. the common space is nice with lots of plants and fresh air!

La Puerta Roja Guest House is ideally located close to Zona Colonial and features bright, plant-filled common areas that foster a welcoming atmosphere. The staff provided excellent service, and my air-conditioned Deluxe Room was both spacious and comfortable.

Limited breakfast options.

It was just an optimal selection for spending the night in Santo Domingo with all in all brilliant value for money. The bathroom had hot water, which was a pleasant surprise after a long day of travel. Just make sure to bring your own toiletries as they aren’t provided.

Stable hot water in the shower was a highlight for me , which is rare in many places. The beds were very comfortable , allowing for a great night's sleep. The good wifi connection kept me connected without interruptions. I especially enjoyed the lovely garden view from my room , as it provided a serene atmosphere.

However, the shower hot water took a considerable time to heat up, and the cleanliness could use some improvement. While the room's decor was basic, overall it served as a decent spot for resting after exploring nearby attractions.

Spent 1 night in the Deluxe Room. The AC was amazing, and the bed comfy. Loved the spaciousness with a wardrobe. Super convenient location near Colonial Zone. Beautiful common area with plants. Friendly staff made for a nice vibe. Hot water in the shower was stable too!
